Akbash Dogs International maintains a full service registry. Our registry is open, meaning that new dogs may be admitted if they measure up to ADI's criteria for an Akbash Dog. Maintaining a credible registry requires striking a balance between being too open and trusting of each person registering a dog or litter, and having so many rules that no one can or will follow them. Our balance between these two extremes appears below and elsewhere on this web site. Responsible breeding begins with the breed standard and the code of ethics, then progresses to the specific policies for naming dogs, registering Akbash Dogs, changing their breed status, becoming an ADI-member breeder, etc. Eventually, we will have all of our policies available for viewing and downloading at this site.For now, please e-mail the ADI registrar, Orysia Dawydiak, for futher information. She can be reached at dawydiak@upei.ca. Even when all the policies are published here, you will probably want to begin any registration process with a quick e-message to Orysia. She understands the processes well, and can make life easier in the first place, by sending the pertinent forms to you.
